Essay / Documentary: Food Inc - 1280
Everyone has the right to know what is in the food they eat. It is heartbreaking to see the extent to which these large corporations dominate American citizens. If everyone knew how brutal it takes to meet the demands of the fast food industry, I like to think the public simply wouldn't tolerate it and would demand that animals stop being referred to as property by law. I find it impossible to believe that if people knew the reality, they wouldn't want animals to resort to legal protections from a life of nothing but abuse. Earthlings The film features a quote from Jeremy Bentham, the philosophical godfather of animal rights, so to speak, which says: "The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor: “Can they speak?” but rather: “Can they suffer? This argument made by Jeremy is often considered the cornerstone of animal rights philosophy. The irony of the quote is that Jeremy actually saw nothing wrong with eating meat. He ate meat once a day, but he lived by the code that he should seek to give animals a decent life and strive to give them a less painful death than the one that would have awaited them in a natural world. When it comes to common slaughter practices, it all comes down to the fact that the comfort of the animal is almost never considered. It all comes down to money. It is cheaper to kill animals inhumanely than humanely. It is cheaper to keep them in closed conditions.2. Food, IncThe message of Food, Inc is simple. Corporations and their profits run the food system and their effects are harmful and detrimental to the health of our planet and everything that lives on it (including us). Furthermore, we have the power to collectively change it if we are in the middle of paper......at all. Of course, almost no one knows this, because most of the things we eat are transparent, so it's difficult to know whether they are bad or good for your health. so long that change is almost impossible. Addictive junk food isn't going away anytime soon; in fact, more are being made every day. It's much harder to adopt a healthy eating lifestyle when your body is used to certain types of foods. Americans know how meats are made, but they still eat them. One of the main reasons is that it tastes amazing, as cliché as that sounds. No one wants to have a tasteless plate when you can have one that turns out amazing. Despite the fact that the incredible plate contains more calories, it is nothing that they look at because our food is not transparent or clear to us..
