  • Essay / Teaching: The Most Important Profession - 1714

I believe teaching is the most important profession in the world. How else can we continue to grow in such a technical world, or any other way, for that matter? Without the transfer of knowledge to young minds, our world will stagnate and waste away. Education is the hope for a better and more prosperous future. Learning is the hope of becoming better individuals, gaining intelligence and implementing practical experiences in our future. Since we always tell our children that they must plan for their future and work to achieve these goals, the teaching profession should “practice what it preaches” by helping young people achieve these goals. Teaching reading for the past five years has been rewarding beyond my imagination. I've seen non-readers become readers, I've seen student achievement and confidence improve, and I've been a part of that change. What a reward! Staying up to date with professional development is crucial in a rapidly changing world. During my teaching career, I doubt I have invented a method of teaching reading that hasn't been used before in one way or another by someone else, but I I've done many of the same things in reading classes that are currently taught to new reading teachers. Today. Despite this, I have strived to learn new techniques in my field, especially over the last five years. I took as many developmental courses and attended as many professional conferences as I could without sacrificing the time owed to my students. Obviously, the most recent focus of education has been reading, and naturally, a language teacher must focus on reading. in order to help its students become accomplished communicators. Learning to implement new ways of having tea...... middle of paper...... They queue up to check out certain titles. They really enjoy this quiet, rich time they have each day to read for their own enjoyment and understanding. I am less of a dictator of information and activities and more of a facilitator than ever. It doesn't necessarily make my job easier, but it makes it a lot more enjoyable. What teacher doesn't want to be able to say what I'm saying now? That my work has been a joy and a pleasure... that I wake up every morning knowing that I am fulfilling my destiny... that I teach because I love to learn... that I am doing what I love to do, teaching children . If I can continue to pass on my passion for learning, especially my love for reading, to others and see them progress, then I will know that I have achieved a great victory in the fight to help others become good readers. What a reward!
