Essay / Causes of Human Trafficking - 723
Those involved in trafficking pay their employees nothing, meaning all profits from their work go directly to the traffickers. Trafficking is an incredibly lucrative business, and it's what drives many people to get involved in it: "Today's slaves sell for a weighted global average of 420 US dollars and can generate 300 to 500 for hundred or more in annual return on investment” (Kara). Traffickers do three things to take advantage of victims: first, they obtain the victims, second, they move the victims, and finally, they exploit the victims.
