    There is no doubt that domestic violence is a major problem in modern society, not only for those affected, but also for the community as a whole. If the government fails to properly address this aspect, it is likely that more citizens will be exposed to greater danger, including death. With this in mind, Congress and other political leaders should enact strict policies regarding domestic violence because most citizens suffer in one way or another from the effects of domestic violence. This is apparently because the current legal system does not sufficiently provide the required protection in matters of domestic violence, and the situation is currently critical (Shipway, 20). This essay analyzes some of the appropriate policy measures that the government, through Congress, should consider to ensure respect for human rights. According to (Farney and Valente, 35-49), domestic violence is a major concern in society, considering the fact that it affects the community in detrimental ways. Basically, domestic violence involves negative acts committed against a person, which often tend to undermine and control them. Such acts mainly involve physical violence, in addition to emotional violence, with the intention of manipulating one of the parties in the relationship. Therefore, domestic violence is undoubtedly an issue that affects the health as well as the socio-economic status of individuals and, above all, a human rights issue. The reason is that human rights, such as the right to equality, associated with security and freedom, among many other rights, are minimized through domestic violence. Apparently, domestic violence manifests itself in several ways in the social context.
