There have been numerous cases in which officers have been involved in high-profile cases resulting in the deaths of citizens. Published January 21-27, 2016 in the New York Amsterdam News, it was reported that "a law enforcement officer was involved in two high-profile brutality cases (cops involved in police brutality cases do face consequences). As well as “NYPD Sergeant Was Involved in Eric Gerber’s Death (Cops Involved in Police Brutality Cases Face Consequences).” This is one of many reported cases among thousands of unreported cases. An example of an officer using excessive physical force is where, in the same news article, it is reported that “Sgt. Kizzy was stripped of his badge...in which an officer had placed him in an apparent chokehold (Cops Involved in Police Brutality Cases Face Consequences).” Even as of now, there are more and more reports of this problem. The death of Rodney King was a day that sparked changes in the enforcement of police work. King's death affected the community and caused chaos throughout the country. His death was filmed as he was beaten by Los Angeles Police officers after being arrested after a high-speed chase on March 31, 1991. For this reason, he is said to "become a symbol of racial tension in America. (Rodney King).” Due to this tragic death, it has had an impact
