Thomas Jefferson wrote his draft declaration and was influenced by many of John Locke's ideas and concepts. He modified some of Locke's ideas, but most of them were the product of Locke's belief in the laws of nature and in the fundamental, unalienable rights of all human beings. As a result, their writings influence and demonstrate the fundamental rights of people and constitute our government.
