Essay / What is a sect? - 1226
A cult is a good place for those excluded from society to freely express their ideas, feel safe, and be enlightened for the future. It is good to get involved in a cult, especially if you are a delinquent or criminal. Most people who join a cult have a desire to belong, a lack of self-confidence, a desire for spiritual meaning, or to give up their addictions. A cult is a religious group that is not part of a larger, more accepted religion and whose beliefs are considered by many people to be extreme. The word sect, which once designated a system of organized worship, is now a term that slanders any religion that one does not know and do not like. “The term has become for religion what the Negroes did for race relations” (Fellowship of Eternal Desire). “A cult is a group of religious and devoted members directed towards a particular belief or figure” (Thriving Cults). Cults are often misjudged and mistreated because what they believe in is strange or different from what the rest of the world believes in. Lesser known sects are often persecuted for what a few evil and corrupt sects have done, but they never stop and watch if they are doing it. the sect is a truly peaceful group. Cult members are often persecuted for their dedication to the cause of the sect they joined. “Some people lack the inner resources and inner abilities to fully understand the world around them. They don’t like feeling lost, abandoned, or hopeless” (Church of Reality). “They have no real concept of themselves and a weak and uncertain sense of identity or self-esteem” (Campus Cults). Sometimes we feel like we're losing our purpose in life and we need something to fall back on. "Naturally, we follow the advice of people or groups who seem... middle of paper... that they created or helped start and it helps them stay happy with themselves and with other members of the sect. In my mind, cults are basically the same thing as churches. The only difference is that people don't really agree with the cult's beliefs or actions. Cults are often simply ridiculed because they are different from most ordinary people who ridicule. Cults are often used to help drunks, drug addicts, and now recovering drunks and drug addicts. The cult's strict rules prevent cult members from using drugs and any form of alcohol. The cult provides a stable home for cult members who cannot maintain a good home. I think cults are a good place for poor people who need some support to maintain their lives and the lives of their families. You have new friends watching your back. Joining a cult is a bit like joining a new second family.
