These ideas all represent the meaning of life as seen by destiny. In the novel "Holes | by Louis Eochar, the idea of ​​fate is very important and the main character Stanley Yelnats experiences it in both positive and negative ways. Stanley's family has been cursed for generations since his Big Pig's thief grandfather broke a promise to a gypsy. This inheritance takes Stanley through a chain of negative events.
