  • Essay / AIDS: Global AIDS Crisis - 1640

Global AIDS CrisisWhat is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the spread of AIDS across the world? AIDS is sometimes seen as a “foreigner’s disease,” brought from elsewhere and imported into isolated communities by travelers and wartime refugees. According to the book Global Aids Crisis, studies across continents show that those who travel frequently are at increased risk of HIV/AIDS infection. Since the virus spread, it has disrupted millions of people around the world. AIDS is an alarming disease caused by an infection called HIV. When it enters your body, it instantly attacks your immune system. AIDS is a very destructive disease and has spread rapidly across the world due to poverty, mass migration of people, wars and other conflicts across the world. We must help find a cure. As a result, the virus has seriously affected the countries' populations. across the world, particularly in Africa. In Africa, there are thousands of medical facilities in South Africa and they all have a high occupancy rate. Today in South Africa, 80% of patients hospitalized in establishments carry HIV (“Impact of HIV and AIDS…”). People working in these facilities, such as doctors and nurses, put themselves at risk of contracting HIV-related illnesses. In Africa, there is high demand for treatment of the disease and hospitals have very little resources and training to treat HIV-positive patients. When HIV first appeared, there were very few resources to use for patients who needed help. However, African populations have also been severely affected by the virus. In the early stages of the virus, many people were dying in Africa before they even reached the age of 50...... middle of paper...... we would do our part to prevent the infection from continuing to progress. . When you are tested and your test comes back positive, you should be isolated and no longer able to have any sexual activity in your life. I think this would be a good starting point to help stop the spread of this disease. All countries should do everything they can to prevent anyone else from becoming infected with AIDS. I think we need to test people who work in the medical field, even if it breaks the law, I really believe it would help slow the progression of the virus even more. AIDS education should be allowed in every country in the world. It is not yet clear what will happen to those who have been greatly affected and radically changed by this deadly virus. As a society, we can all contribute and do more to help stop the spread and progression of AIDS/HIV..
