Harry Truman's Excellent Adventure is an example of Algeo's fascinating historical books. In short, the author constructively recounts the astonishing adventure of ex-president Harry Truman and his enchanting post-presidential life. Overall, Algeo really focuses on the extraordinary journeys of Truman and his wife, while helping the reader understand the rapid changes of mid-20th century America. Additionally, the book is able to give the reader an equal blend of history and light biography on Harry Truman, the last citizen president. In fact, “Harry Truman was the last president to leave the White House and return to something resembling a normal life (Algeo 21). » Furthermore, it is extremely interesting that Algeo followed Truman's exact route and even added notes about his own experiences along the way. As a result, the reader is able to grasp a deeper understanding of Truman's adventure through the author's magnificent efforts to relive the journeys. Truman's extravagant adventure began shortly after his little-approved presidency ended in 1953. In summary, Truman's American road trip began in the summer of 1953, when Truman and his wife, Bess, received an admirable Chrysler New Yorker for just one US dollar. As a result, the couple jumped into the shiny new car and drove the long, glorious American roads. In addition, the book tells the long and amazing adventure of Truman in a very vivid and impressive way, from the middle of paper...... In fact, the true story, which takes place in the 1950s, almost makes the reader envious of the American citizens who lived at that time. The 1950s were one of the greatest periods in American history, from the high level of automobile manufacturing and extremely low gasoline prices to the greatness of small businesses and restaurants. Finally, the fantasy book is able to give the reader a very vivid picture of the 1950s in America. Additionally, the author has done an excellent job of describing and illustrating the adventurous life and travels of Harry and Bess Truman, while spicing up the story with additional knowledge and enthusiastic humor. Finally, the book is undoubtedly a charming non-fiction story for anyone who loves history or wants to learn more about the 33rd US President, Harry Truman. Lamar Connor Smith University
