    War in Christianity and IslamDoes such a combination of words like "a war in the name of God" make sense? The main principles underlying Christianity and Islam are those of goodness, kindness, absence of aggression and respect for certain moral laws. Christianity and Islam provide human society with a code of ethics that totally rejects war because it is violent, inhumane and cruel. However, throughout human history, many wars have been justified by religion and the imposition of “good faith”. Due to misunderstanding of parts of religion or deliberate misuse of it, European and Islamic states have often resorted to violence to achieve their goals. Over the years, the idea that Islam is an aggressive religion has grown. This is mainly because the word “jihad” – a very important concept in the Islamic faith – is often misunderstood or its original meaning intentionally distorted. From the beginning of the Islamic invasion of Europe, a sense of devotion to religion was instilled in Muslim soldiers and believers. Religion played a very important place in their lives. Soldiers were taught to die for Allah in their holy war against unbelievers – this was called jihad. However, if one carefully examines the Quran, the holy book for Muslims, one will find that jihad has a completely different meaning: it is an internal struggle with oneself to achieve results in a certain area or, simply, to improve. . Even though most Islamic believers know what jihad actually is, some fanatics still seek an excuse for their appalling and inhumane acts in the word mentioned above. Innocent people were killed in the name of Christianity – it was a terrible parody of this religion whose main principle was not to hurt or kill your enemy but to love them. Moreover, these were not enemies but ordinary people who, for various reasons, were not to the Church's liking. Finally, there were even religious wars in France and Spain. Soldiers killed their friends and compatriots because of their leaders' struggle for power. Religion has always played a major role in the development of human society. This is the main reason why it has so often been used for unjust purposes. The concept of war is in complete opposition to what Islam and Christianity teach their followers.
