    It has affected our language, our culture, our geography, our architecture and even our way of thinking. Our island has a Roman name, its capital is a Roman city and for centuries the language of our religion and administration was Roman. ยป (Ibeji) The Romans are seen as a monolithic dictator who imposed himself on a reluctant people and dictated how they lived, worshiped and spoke. However, the Romans brought to England and Wales an order and unity never seen before. They also did not completely abolish the religion of the British people, but rather merged their religion with that of the Romans. "Yet perhaps Rome's most important legacy was not its roads, nor its agriculture, nor its cities, nor even its language, but the simple, straightforward fact that every generation of British inhabitants who followers - whether Saxon, Norman, Renaissance English or Victorian - were striving to be Roman. Each was trying to recapture the glory of that long-lost era, when Britannia was part of a great, shaping civilization. the whole of Europe and formed a single unified civilization.
