Essay / Jeffrey Dahmer: A Serial Killer - 1121
During Jeffrey's recovery, Dahmer noted: "He seemed smaller, somehow more vulnerable, maybe even sadder than anything moment before” (1992, p. 59). Jeff had displayed symptoms of alienation after his brother's birth, as his teachers and father even noticed a difference within his personality. Dahmer observed that “the little boy who once seemed so happy and confident was gone. He had been replaced by someone else, a different person, now profoundly shy, distant, almost uncommunicative” (1994, p. 62). Jeff's first grade teacher even got the impression that Jeff had a deep dissatisfaction with him, felt neglected by his parents, and noticed how often he was left alone on the playground. Before moving to Barberton, Ohio, Jeffrey, at the age of seven, also saw his mother fall into an acute depression, leading her to be admitted to a psychiatric ward to help her cope with his serious problems.
