El Paso, a constantly growing city with more: schools, hospitals and jobs; Where many have thrived in these efforts. However, non-bilingual people seem excluded from these opportunities. But instead of remaining unemployed; The city should implement affirmative action so that many non-bilinguals and minorities in El Paso have as many opportunities as those who are native to the city. One thing El Paso doesn't lack is diversity. El Paso has a population of 672,538 (2012), of which 92.8 (2012) are white and 81.7% (2012) are Hispanic, leaving the remainder minorities under 5% (quickfacts.census.gov). El Paso includes the Fort Bliss military base. Fort Bliss brings together thousands of soldiers and their families from around the world. El Paso not only includes Fort Bliss, but also sits along the Mexican border. With different languages and races, El Paso is its own melting pot. While diversity is a beautiful thing, problems arise when Spanish is the primary language spoken while a few are not. Many places in El Paso speak Spanish, and a language barrier appears when a few distinct people meet the masses. Even if being bilingual is a social advantage, we must not forget it because not all walks of life are reluctant to be bilingual in Spanish. Spanish is a beautiful language, living in El Paso allows the language to flow throughout the city. But instead of focusing only on Spanish, there are various people who speak Japanese, German...... middle of paper ...... the advantage of minorities is because sometimes you can be bilingual , but because the pigment of a single skin employers do not give the candidate the opportunity to be interested in his skills.
