Essay / Food Insecurity Case Study - 1436 'food the students actually ate. The study found that 22% of students skipped breakfast, but ate a snack at least once a day. Additionally, the study also found that men consumed foods high in calories and fat. The study appears to be more quantitative, but qualitative practices must have been in place when interviewing subjects about their meals in order to integrate them into the food records. The results suggest that students should eat more vegetables and fruits, as well as consume fewer carbonated drinks and high-fat meals. Although this is a well-conducted study, it is limited because it was done over 20 years ago. The students' eating habits may therefore have changed during this period. For example, over those 20 years, the perception of soda has changed dramatically, illustrating the need for this type of study to be more relevant to today's students. Additionally, much of this study focuses on what these students eat, but I also think that finding out how students eat their meals is important to understanding a student's diet.
