  • Essay / Essay on Global Warming: Impact of Climate Change on...

Each place, country, city, region has its own climate. Climate plays an important role in people's lives. Climate is defined as the average weather, which means a variety of weather conditions like rain, snow, hail, sun and wind over a period of approximately 30 years that can be measured in any location particular. (IPCC Third Assessment Report - Climate Change 2001; publisher: APBaede) Climate change is a variation in average weather. There are 2 causes of climate change. The first is human activity which includes deforestation, burning of fossil fuels, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure. The second reason is natural, notably volcanic eruptions and variations in solar production. These causes have a negative effect on the natural environment, resulting in increase in temperature, rise in sea level, change in precipitation, extreme weather conditions, killing species of animals, birds, fish and plants. This essay will show that the causes of climate change have different effects on the environment. Atmospheric variations in carbon dioxide, volcanic eruptions and solar production have negative impacts on animals, plants and the environment. The climate is always changing. One winter may be early, another late; one wet summer, another dry (Carter 2000,34). Over the past century, the climate has changed dramatically. The consequences of climate change can manifest themselves quickly and over a long period of time. Climate change could lead to many catastrophic disasters such as droughts, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and volcanic eruptions. For example, earthquakes in New Zealand, China, Chile and Haiti,...... middle of document ......the number of floods has clearly increased. The number of fatalities caused by flooding has decreased significantly, probably due to better warning and rescue measures. In Europe, 64% of all catastrophic events since 1980 are directly attributable to weather and climate extremes: floods, storms and droughts/heatwaves. The average number of annual disastrous weather and climate events in Europe doubled during the 1990s, compared to the previous decade, while non-climatic events (e.g. earthquakes) remained stable. Conclusion In conclusion, it seems that the causes of climate change have effects on nature that cover almost everything. Climatologists believe that there are two causes and several factors that influence the Earth's climate. These are: human activity and natural causes, including volcanic eruptions, variations in solar production..
