1. INTRODUCTIONThis assignment aims to answer question 2. Firstly, employee engagement will be explained and the account of Aon Hewitt's (2012) engagement drivers which helps organizations with engagement will be demonstrated. In the driving factors, a description of how internal communication can promote employee engagement within the organization will be provided. And finally, the challenge facing internal communication in terms of employee engagement will be met. The intention of this essay is to examine whether internal communication is important for employee engagement. Three effective examples of employee engagement from Tesco, Rolls-Royce and McDonald's regarding internal communication will also be provided in this article.2. WHAT IS EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT? Employee engagement is a concept that has been studied and developed over many years. However, employee engagement has been defined in different ways. According to Ruck (2012), there are three waves of evolution in engagement. The second wave occurs between 2000 and 2005, Robinson et al. (2004) describe the term as follows: To improve both work and organizational effectiveness, a positive attitude of the employee towards the organization and organizational values is necessary. In this phase, the importance of establishing an environment that allows employees to engage is also emphasized (Ruck, 2012). The last wave was proposed in 2006 by Saks, which suggested extending the concept to work engagement and organizational engagement. The term employee engagement has been widely used and has become popular (Robinson et al., 2004), and it now matters more than ever (Aon Hewitt, 2012).
