  • Essay / My Teaching Philosophy: My Philosophy of Education

Bradley BramblettApril 24, 2014Dr. GivensBEF 360Philosophy of EducationMy decision to pursue a career in teaching is due, in part, to my desire to have an impact on the children I teach. Teaching is a very rewarding profession in which the teacher can directly influence the life of a child. During this stage of my academic career, I realized that becoming a teacher was not too far out of reach. There have been many influences on my life that have led me to this point and helped me set goals for my career. It was mainly thanks to my father's influence that I decided to become a teacher. Ultimately, I will be a third-generation teacher, and growing up in an educational environment has provided me with the foundation necessary to pursue a teaching career. In my philosophy of education, I believe it is necessary to expose what I believe and why I believe what I do. I believe that every student who walks through my door, regardless of race, religion, economic status, nationality, or language barrier, is meant to receive an education and it is my job as a teacher to do my part for this to happen. I believe one of my concerns is to make the classroom as safe as possible and where students can feel safe. When they are in class, I will do everything I can to ensure they are in a focused, learning environment. I will also try to earn and respect their trust and hopefully build relationships with students through our mutual respect. I realize that not all students learn at the same pace or in the same mode, so I will vary my teaching techniques so that all of my students can learn. It is crucial not to leave students behind or learn...... middle of paper ......s. I know it's 2014 and you would think this shouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. But, for some reason, this remains a big problem. Racial inequality is always in the news and it needs to be stopped. There's no reason everyone can't get along and be together for eight hours of school five days a week. One of the most important things to me as a teacher is that I am a leader, for 180 days. students of the year will come to my classroom and look to me to learn. I believe in leading by example. I have to show up every morning prepared and ready to work, stay after school if necessary, and do whatever it takes to get the job done. I will present a professional appearance and be a role model for my students. I will be consistent in my classroom management, discipline and keep my students on task..
