Change is when a person does not follow their daily routine. They may want to try something different or be forced to. Change can be for better or worse. Locations can experience changes ranging from the weather to the animals present to the changing seasons. Additionally, objects can also cope with change. Objects like an iceberg may begin to melt, or a wildfire may kill many trees in an area. As humans, we are the ones who decide on change. We are able to make big decisions and perhaps even become a leader to make change happen. If one person starts to change, others will follow and, hopefully, the change will benefit everyone. Change affects us in the workplace, in team participation and in society. People may need to adapt to a new environment, a new leader, or a routine. Some people can easily adapt to change while others may never adapt at all. People generally think that breaking a routine can lead to a negative outcome. Growing up, teachers always emphasized the importance of global warming and the need to change our lifestyles to prevent the melting of glaciers or the loss of animal habitats. In the book Our Iceberg is Melting, the penguins on the iceberg try to influence the other members of their community because their iceberg is in danger of melting. Some penguins in the community don't think changing location to a new iceberg is a good idea, even if their lives are in danger on their current iceberg. We must embrace change by entrusting an individual with a leadership role. There may be more than one leader, but at least one person must understand that change is necessary for the betterment and success of others. Another way to accept change is to subject the medium to the influence of others. Change attempts to make people better off, but affects people differently on a daily basis. People must embrace change and be open-minded to succeed in this change. A leader must be present, build relationships with other team members, and influence others to achieve their goal. If Fred and Alice had not bonded with the other members of their team or influenced the other members of their colony, the penguins could have lost their home and ultimately died.
