Essay / America, the Land of the Somewhat Free - 950
Where would you be if immigration had been completely stopped in the United States because of quota laws? For my part, I would be in Jaworzno, a small town in Poland, and I would live with my family in a small cramped apartment belonging to my parents. I would only speak Polish and attend a school like university. It's hard to imagine a life outside of what we already have and without the open arms of the United States, we would all be living lives we couldn't imagine living. The fact is that a lot of people who come to the United States as immigrants come here because they need refuge because where they lived before there was political injustice and other types of oppression against the population. How can we all, the first, second, third and fourth generations of immigrants, deny these people the right to come to our multicultural nation to be safe and reside there until they one day become legal citizens. I believe that the United States of America should always remain a multicultural nation so that everyone can come safely and live a better life than before. This is mainly for two reasons: First, it is hypocritical for a nation founded by immigrants to later prevent new immigrants from entering the nation it created. Second, trying to persuade the country to become one nation with one culture and one language is the exact opposite of what the United States of America has been since the creation of the Declaration of Independence. First of all, the United States of America was not created by the original inhabitants of the country. The first settlers were immigrants who left Britain because of the religious freedom they fought for. During the wars, they helped fight in the wars. Furthermore, the United States would never have arisen so quickly without immigrants coming to work like building the railroads across America, mining the gold, or even doing the hard work that no one wants to do today. 'today. Immigrants are the backbone of the United States. Without immigration, our economy would collapse and there would be chaos. Having a nation that does not exactly fit the definition of a nation will not bring it down but will help it survive. All the cultures introduced to the United States make it a melting pot of people, but without those people, the United States would not be on the map today like it is now. The United States of America will remain a multicultural nation because there is strength and stability behind a nation that supports and welcomes people with open arms and safety..
