Essay / Turkish Culture and the Culture of Turkey - 1199
The coastal areas have a mild climate, while the Anatolian Plateau has hot, dry summers and cold winters with limited precipitation. The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts have cool, rainy winters and hot, moderately dry summers (Sensoy). Turkey is surrounded by the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Greece. It is a member of the United Nations (UN), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the G20 Summit. Twenty percent of the Turkish population lives in Istanbul. Infrastructure development exists along the Aegean coast in the west as well as in the Tigris and Euphrates river systems in the southeast (Middle East: Turkey). Turkey is undoubtedly one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world due to its geographical influences and rich historical experience. Turkish culture is constantly evolving and deepening due to all these influences. There are currently still tensions between parties in Türkiye that would lead to a major cultural shift, as the conflict would intensify in the event of a change of power. Even though some traditions in Türkiye have remained the same, small things have changed to make the overall culture distinct.
