  • Essay / BP Oil Spill - 966

Background: - On April 20, 2010, a tragic disaster struck the Gulf Coast. British Petroleum's Horizon deep-water oil rig cracked in three places and crude oil leaked into the sea. .it was considered that more than 60,000 barrels of oil per day were mixing with the Gulf water and the oil extends 70 to 130 miles into the sea and can be seen from space. Ethical question: - The ethical questions in this case are the impact on tourism. the industry of the Gulf of Mexico and its beaches, unemployment in the region due to business closures, destruction of wildlife and the environment, and concern for human health and post-incident trauma. It's been almost a year, but the world is still recovering from the devastation caused by a disastrous oil spill. It has destroyed the environment and wildlife around the world and its full impact is still unknown. The environmental impacts could be noticeable in the years to come. Due to the BP oil spill, all activities around the coastal beaches are suffering greatly and rely only on tourism and fishing. This destruction not only causes health problems but is also responsible for millions of dollars in lost revenue.Stakeholder:- Organizations or groups of people who have a direct or indirect interest in a particular organization or its surroundings are called stakeholders.Relevant Party:-* BP Oil Company* Government* Local Business* Employees* Wildlife* Environment* Shareholder of BPAAll the above stakeholders were affected by the oil spill, but differently unfortunately, the oil was dumped into the ocean and killed all the fish and spread off the coast into the rivers, affecting the fishermen and the BP company affected because they need to clean it all up so they can cover the costs, and the bad publicity of the oil spill affected governments with ...... middle of paper ......t Feinberg tries to think about the issue. CONCLUSION In the end, I come to the conclusion that BP was not properly prepared for a disaster like this. The project risk assessment is very limited and not even taken seriously for its own progress and public exposure. and putting employees at risk by not following standard SOPs for a particular project. Even after the incident, they try to turn a blind eye to reality. The company should consider this incident as a wake-up call and should implement a proper risk assessment for the future and also compensate the damage on ethical grounds. If she counters this situation in a positive way, her loss of bad reputation will be less as expected, she should consider her responsibility. towards society as well, by doing this they not only improve the lives of others but they also gain goodwill towards their company..
