Religious mythThe resurrection of Jesus is one of the greatest religious myths of world civilization. The stories of his resurrection are told in the Bible and passed down from generation to generation. The resurrection took place after Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross and his body was placed in the tomb. Joseph of Arimathea had the body of Jesus Christ placed in his own tomb. However, Jesus never made the tomb a permanent resting place. On the third day, several women, including Mary Magdalene, went to Jesus' tomb. The third day was a Sunday, which will become important in this religious myth. There was a great earthquake when Mary and the other women arrived at Jesus' tomb. An angel came down from heaven and rolled away the stone, causing an earthquake. This was a surprising thing to the women and the guards, but the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; because he is resurrected. Come see where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and, behold, he is going before you into Galilee; ...... middle of paper ...... these are the stories that make a person who they are. Myths can shape a person into what they should be. Myths have helped shape cultures for centuries and will continue to help struggling people in our culture, such as people struggling with drug addiction. Myths help us develop social norms and appropriate behavior, while providing hope to people in distress. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is an important myth in today's culture and will continue to bring hope to people who are struggling.
