Over the years, one thing students have feared throughout their educational journey, that thing is standardized testing. Instead of focusing on classes at school, students constantly worry about the pressure of applications and the tension that comes with standardized tests. This type of testing induces a lot of unnecessary stress that can cause the student to perform poorly on the standardized test. Many educators argue that standardized tests are an accurate way to test students in the sense that they can benchmark students in college and provide quick results on students' knowledge. On the other hand, standardized tests are considered an inaccurate way to measure students' knowledge because they cannot describe and convey the many characteristics that might make one a good student. Many people believe that standardized tests are the best way to measure student achievement. effectively as it provides colleges with accurate student achievements. The way this is measured is through one or other of these standardized tests; SAT [Scholastic Aptitude Test] and ACT [American College Testing]. These tests provide colleges with the grades that high school students should achieve while attending college. (source 4) Some research shows that standardized tests are a great way to measure a student's knowledge and skills because they are comprehensive, open-minded, and effective.
