My grandfather once told me, “If you can’t find your life’s purpose, then find your passion.” Because the passion you were looking for will reveal your purpose. His inspiring words still stay with me to this day and I have always found myself living the life he wanted me to. However, it wasn't until I participated in my job shadowing experience that I realized I had discovered the passion he was talking about. I never considered myself a teacher. As a student for so long, I thought teaching was the last thing I wanted to do. However, this past year I have seen teaching in a new light. Throughout my high school career, I had amazing teachers who aspired me to excel in my studies and who impacted my life goals. It wasn’t until my job shadowing experience that I really decided that teaching was for me. One of my teachers encouraged me to observe an elementary classroom and see if I would find my calling in teaching. From the first moments of my experience, I fell in love. Winning this scholarship would mean everything to me and my family. Since I will be attending college for six years, the tuition amount will add up in the blink of an eye. My goal is to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College for my first two years for my Associates in Arts. Upon completion, I plan to transfer to Eastern Kentucky University to complete my bachelor's degree and complete a master's degree in history. Obtaining this scholarship would allow me to take one more step towards the future that is so dear to my heart. This would allow me to excel in the pursuit of my studies. This scholarship means I can make a difference in a child's life through education and inspire myself to educate the next generation....... middle of paper ...... by organizing races and selling jewelry. Additionally, being president of my NHS section, I do a lot of community work. A volunteer project sponsored by the NHS was a canned food drive for a local homeless shelter. We were able to collect over 200 cans to help families host a Thanksgiving meal in Bethany Haven. I was inspired by the other member and decided to visit the shelter later in the year to help with landscaping and other needs. In conclusion, I believe I deserve this scholarship because I have the drive to succeed and make a contribution to the world. I hope to one day become the teacher I want to be and help educate the next generation. Throughout my high school years, I demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership, and community service. I believe these qualities are necessary for success through a student's discipline and commitment..
