According to Buddha, after passing through the three characteristics of existence, a person falls on the path of the “Four Noble Truths”. The first of the noble truths is duhkha, which means that to live is to suffer. “Buddha holds that all life is duhkha, he simply suggests that all experiences of life, from birth to death, generate dissatisfaction, either through physical pain or through change. or conditioned phenomena” (Prebish 51). The second noble truth is called samudaya, which means that suffering comes from cravings or desires. The third noble truth is called nirhodha, which means the end of suffering and desires. The only way for a Buddhist to attain the fourth truth is to follow the doctrine called "The Noble Eightfold ».
