The victims of this massacre are the Rohingya Muslims, originally from the Indian subcontinent and who constitute a minority group which represents 5% of the country's population. Today, the physical and emotional abuse suffered by Rohingya Muslims is a major problem in the Middle East. In Burma, many Muslims are murdered, beaten or attacked by various religious groups, while government officials occasionally observe or assist. Rohingya Muslims are a small Muslim group that emerged in India during the era of the British Raj. . The group lived mainly in Bangladesh or Burma, which was eventually changed to Myanmar. This minority group represents approximately 5% of the Burmese population. About two years ago, in October 2012, Rohingya Muslims began to be attacked, displaced and killed for inexplicable reasons.
