Essay / Democratization Model for a Post-al-Assad Regime in Syria
This research paper seeks to design a democratization model for a post-al-Assad regime in Syria. Alongside the uprising in Syria, a possible transition to true democracy should be discussed. The conflicts are not yet over in Syria and it is possible that the revolts will succeed and that Syria will face enormous challenges for a transition which may or may not be democratic. This is an essential moment for Syria to design a good model of democracy in order to be able to have a peaceful and democratic Syria and to be able to bring stability, harmony and solidarity without any vicious sectarian conflicts between many groups. Moreover, the Assad regime is less likely to survive the current opposition and outside observers. There should therefore be a proposal for what the institutions of a future democratic Syria will look like. The current regime represents much more than the interests of his family, the ruling party and the Alawite community whose members have dominated the majority (Sunni Muslims) for more than forty years.II. IntroductionThe brutal regime of Bashar al-Assad has ruled this country for more than forty years. The tyrannical and autocratic government continued to employ its loyal military forces and sectarian thugs to crush opposition and reassert its tyranny. There were several revolts against him to overthrow the regime and begin taking steps to establish a democratic government and introduce political, social and economic reforms in the country, but the regime resorted to excessive force and weapons chemical attacks against civilians and killed more than 120,000 people. innocent in order to stay in power (Byman, Doran, Pollack, & Shaikh, 2012). This war will never end until there is... middle of paper ...... the trading system and industries developing. In this model, with government interventions, the labor of the people is the central factor in production. and with that for economic growth, because it is the work of people that leverages all other factors of production, raw materials, technology and money. At the same time, work and therefore the right to work are considered important for the life and development of the individual, not only from a material but also from a personal and social point of view (Carlsson & Lindgren, 2007 ). Furthermore, we recommend creating a conservative liberal democracy by defining the rights and obligations of citizens, the rights and obligations of government, elections, freedom, equality, the rights of minority groups, the role of Islam in this model and the feasibility of the survival and success of this democratic model in the political world of the 21st century.
