Today, most cell phones are smartphones which have the potential to fuel different types of media addiction. Smartphones have access to the Internet, allowing access to video streaming, online gaming, social media, online gambling, and pornography. Cell phones are within the reach of most individuals and they are available almost everywhere, making it possible to escape from reality in seconds. Having to continually act on these impulses causes the person to feel abnormal if they cannot act on the impulse to reach for their phone. Today it can be observed that many people depend on their cell phones for their daily tasks and giving up their cell phones is like giving up something that has become part of their life.
