  • Essay / Kashmir conflict: a six-decade conflict between India...

To begin with, we should not send ground troops. They would not constitute an effective buffer as they would cause an even greater increase in tensions in the region. We would also put our American troops at risk. The last thing we need is to send more troops into unstable and violent areas. Another step we should not take would be to give money to Pakistan to buy Kashmir. We cannot buy peace. This would also make India unhappy with us, which would have a negative impact on our economy. The United States already has billions of dollars in debt. It's not a good idea to give money now. A third step we should avoid taking is to make Kashmir an independent country.
