  • Essay / My Personality in Campus Life - 1074

I am generally a very open and understanding person, able to trust individuals based on their loyalty and commitment to long-term relationships. This is a very good aspect of my personality, which brings me greater social opportunities and options in friends and romantic relationships. of course, that social part of my personality, which can also sometimes get me into trouble with people I don't want in my life. Some of the bad choices I made in high school involved having too much compassion for a person who was behaving in a dysfunctional way. For example, I often spoke with people with serious problems (drug addiction, arrest, etc.) because I felt I could help them resolve these problems. In many cases, these people “turned on me” because they had issues with anger, distrust, and resentment toward others. In college, I'm learning to maintain compassion for those suffering from dysfunctional lifestyles, but I'm also realizing that I don't have to "help" them out of their current situation. In the future, this will be a good way to prevent annoying people (who don't want to help themselves) from interfering with my own happiness. I think it will help me become a more insightful person, which will help me make better choices in the future in terms of family, career and social life. Today, I am learning to change the "bad behavior" of hanging out with dysfunctional people who are not willing to help themselves within the sociality of my college personality.
