For a shortstop, Derek had good size at six feet, three inches and 195 pounds. A shortstop is usually big, fast and never overweight, just like Jeter. His legs and core were undoubtedly strong, which is imperative to being a high-caliber infielder. Derek's offseason workouts were daily, following a three-week rest period once the season ended. During workouts, Jeter offers a variety of exercises for the legs, back, chest and arms. Additionally, every Tuesday and Thursday he included a satisfying core workout to strengthen his core and improve his balance. In addition to weights, he performed different agility drills and fields and hit hundreds of baseballs daily to maintain his game on the field. Although Derek's performance was unique compared to all players, his attitude is what made him loved and was such a tragic loss to the baseball world when he retired. Jeter behaved with class, dignity and often with different girlfriends. Even though Jeter was one of the best players in baseball, he didn't let on that he knew it. He was incredibly modest and always looking to improve his game. It seemed like Jeter wanted the best for everyone around him, as he was always generous and respectful, even to his opponents.
