During the early stages of civilization, man viewed nature as an invincible adversary, however, over time, nature became exploitable through advancements technological and the need of man to conquer the unknown. The attitude that nature must be exploited leads many people working in the sector to “look through rather than at” nature and the resources it provides us. (Wilderness and the American Spirit). The motivation for exploiting nature is not just conquering the once impenetrable barrier that is the natural world around us, but rather building different types of infrastructure and overall improving people's lives. Nature hinders human progress, so land developers and capitalists have decided that it is more effective not only to view nature as a nuisance, but also to make the decision that man can progress better without a undeveloped nature.
