Essay / The Importance of Private Healthcare - 1503
Although both private and public healthcare systems provide patients with the freedom to choose which doctors and facilities to use; however, a public system will achieve equity for all by having the same treatment and care benefits as everyone else. The Government of Canada has limited opportunities for private insurance and private practices to remove barriers to access for individuals and families with limited financial means. Having both a private and public system will allow the wealthy to purchase higher quality care for themselves, which is believed to increase the medical resources available for health care, but it also creates a disparity between rich and the poor. I think the way health care is delivered is crucial in a country like Canada, with a diverse population and individuals of varying incomes who must focus on a public health care system. Therefore, a public health system will guarantee everyone similar access to medical resources, free and equitable for all.
