Essay / Middle school and high school: two very different experiences
High school to college are two very different experiences. Many students enter college expecting to have an experience identical to what they had in high school. These students are wrong to make this assumption because they are so different. College costs more, presents more academic challenges, and provides a more social environment than high school, while still providing students with knowledge and skills that could and will be useful in the future. First, in terms of cost, college is more expensive. more expensive than high school due to tuition, living expenses, and books. Anyone who wants to attend college must pay tuition, while it is free to attend a public high school. Tuition can start at around $50,000 per year and can cost up to $250,000 by the time of graduation. People who attend a government-funded high school do not have to pay for their education through tuition, but through their taxes. In addition to tuition, students also have to worry about room and board, whether on or off campus. In Boston, basement apartment rental costs can range from $600 to $1,000 per month, and residence fees at most colleges are around $10,000 each year. On the other hand, high school students do not have living expenses because the majority of high school students live with their parents for free. College is also more expensive than high school when it comes to the cost of learning materials, such as textbooks and supplies. In college, students must purchase textbooks for every course they take, and these books are not cheap, and they can cost between $200 and $500 new or between $100 and $300 rented and used per book. Most high school students do not have to worry about purchasing their textbooks because... middle of paper ...... college provides students with the knowledge and skills they will need to the future. Skills such as social skills, reading something and remembering it, but also the patience and perseverance to continue with something even if it may seem difficult. The student will need to enter the workforce and complete difficult tasks assigned by a boss, or if going into business, how to continue even when times are tough. All skills learned in high school and developed in college. College can get students to use these skills more than in high school by persisting in projects, internships, and jobs, but they started in high school. Based on financial, academic, and social aspects, college is more expensive, more academically challenging, and more socially challenging than high school, but prepares students for the future on their own.
