Essay / Globalization: Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM)
Literature ReviewIn recent decades, environmentalists have increasingly focused on green concerns. (Toke, Gupta and Dandekar, 2012) Furthermore, increasing environmental deterioration such as global warming, acid rain, use of toxic substances, decreasing unreplenished resources, depletion of raw materials , overflowing landfills and pollution in general have had a positive impact. the awareness of people around the world. (Mutingi, 2013; Toke et al, 2012; Kumar and Chandrakar, 2012) Globalization is one of the factors behind the increase in environmental deterioration. (Gardas and Narkhede, 2013) It has also been found that environmental pollution is correlated with the development of industry and increase in waste or emissions based on environmental concerns in recent decades. (Singhal, 2013; Shakti; Kumar and Chandrakar, 2012) Since globalization and development of industry causes the emergence of environmental problems, this has pushed companies to use green supply chain management ( GSCM). (Mutingi, 2013) GSCM can create a sustainable supply chain since the entire process of producing a product will not harm the environment. The input uses an environmentally friendly raw material and the output can be reused or recycled. (Patrick, 2010, cited in Gardas and Narkhede, 2013) Furthermore, GSCM also defines as involving activities such as green purchasing, green manufacturing, green distribution and reverse logistics. (Shakti) It can be said that businesses need to go green because of the different agencies, there is government, customer, competitor and stakeholders. (Jasti, Sharma, & Kodali, 2012) Moreover, the reason why companies use GSCM is that it can help companies achieve a win-win outcome...... middle of paper .... .. we assemble components. Thus, the tolerance assignment model is a method that can be used to help the electronics industry apply green principles. This model can be used at the product design stage and mathematical calculation (algorithms) is used in this model. In fact, this model considers how the electronic product can be disassembled and recycled before combining the assembly components to form an electronic product. Since the electronic product is made from various assembly products, dimension and tolerance should be prepared to specify which assembly components are used to form an electronic product and ensure that the final electronic product can work. Different tolerance levels may make the cost different. This is how the producer in the electronics industry can calculate the cost. (Huang and Tseng, 2010)
