  • Essay / Alternatives to Public Transport - 1297

Transportation is one of the most important things in our lives today. If there was no transportation, would we have been able to travel from one place to another so easily? Knowing that public transportation runs every few minutes and hours, could we have traveled far and back? Therefore, imagining life without transportation seems almost impossible. Traveling to work, school, home or elsewhere has become a rapidly growing problem that requires special attention. People find it very difficult to move from one place to another because of the many problems involved. As a result, being able to offer our communities choices and/or alternatives when it comes to public transportation can be very beneficial to the population. Public transportation surrounds us wherever we are, but sometimes we don't even notice it. In fact, there are many types of public transportation services such as buses, subways, taxis, Bart and even trains. Of course, public transport is not free, but it is significantly more affordable for those on low incomes. There are many advantages and even disadvantages when we rely on someone else to transport us. Some public transportation like Bart is cheap because the government helps cover part of the costs and doesn't charge the customer more. Personally, I've had a lot of experience with public transportation due to commuting between Tracy and San Francisco to get to work every day. My personal experiences with public transportation have taught me that I have been through good times and bad, just like other commuters. Providing public transportation can be recognized as a very beneficial factor for the public as it protects...... middle of paper .... can easily be solved by a patrol crossing the train to ensure that no one stays indoors for excessive periods of time. Overall, public transportation systems may already be operating efficiently, but with a few more changes, we can create a much safer environment for public commuters to get around without hassle or problem. We can make public transportation safer so that more people can use it to get from one place to another. This can prove to be a very beneficial factor for the people, the government and the environment as well. Therefore, I think the government should provide more funding to make public transport as reliable as possible and offer public transport as a cheap, fast and consistent way to get to school, work, home or to any other destination..
