  • Essay / Organ Donation Essay - 946

waiting for an organ transplant. Among them, a few thousand are expected to die while waiting for their organ transplant (rucke, 2013). Why would we let someone die who needs a heart or a kidney to save their life? Isn't human life worth more? I am for organ donation, but I believe that human organ donation should not be done on the black market. Someone who desperately needs an organ may not even ask themselves where that organ comes from? The most sold human organ on the black market is the kidney (Rucke, 2013). Kidneys are the best-selling human organs because people are born with two and can live a healthy life with just one (Rucke, 2013). Selling a kidney on the black market typically costs around 1,000.00 (Rucke, 2013). Many Israelis donate their organs to the person who will pay the most money, but end up being victims of a scandal and left without their organ and their money (Rucke, 2013). In 2009, the FBI discovered that Israelis were buying organs for 10,000.00 and reselling them for 160,000.00 (Rucke, 2013). Donors receive little or no money, while groups that organize their sales bring in a very large sum.
