  • Essay / Why Chopin's studies are historically important - 2341

The elements used in this work are also found in the other studies of the Op. 10, although someone briefly. The composition is divided into three different sections; the first section includes measures 1 to 28, the second 29 to 48 and the last measures 49 to 84. Chopin uses the application of diminuendos and sudden crescendos which almost always follow harmonics placed to the left of with scales and arpeggios. An example of this is bars 75 and 80. Chopin demonstrates conflict dynamics that appear throughout the composition, this can be found in bar 10 where a crescendo gives in the right hand and at the same time, the left hand receives a diminuendo. The melody is operatic in nature and almost sounds like a series of desperate sung cries. The middle section, measures 29-48, uses the opening figurations through a series of modulations typical of Chopin's style. The final section is where the opening theme is further developed. Chopin develops the thematic material with a series of thirds and incorporates staggered accents into the right hand melody line. Chopin uses it to refine the techniques he introduced in the previous book.
