While five to ten seconds may not seem like much of a wait for your visitor, most will leave in favor of faster websites. There is a good reason for this apparent impatience. Most Internet users visit more than a single web page. Some people visit dozens or even hundreds of web pages and waiting five or ten seconds for each to load quickly is a huge waste of time. A website that is not online is not visible. Make sure your website uptime is at least 99%. Even this number is a bit low. The closer it is to 100%, the better. What difference does a few tenths of a percent make? There are specific times of the week and day when people are searching and you don't want those few tenths of a percent to happen during those critical times. A hacked website or redirect to websites of “questionable nature” not only gives the worst possible first impression, but is also detrimental to your
