  • Essay / The Fae Princess - 2139

Part 1Chapter 1The Fae PrincessNight had fallen over the land as the young girl walked through the forests. The darkness had ravished everything it touched, leaving her in a scene of picturesque beauty. She was surrounded by plants; blue, red and black flowers, and trees that protected it from the shine of the moon. The moon itself, what little it shone, guided his path through the forest. Of course, she didn't need it. His race, the Dark Fae, could see quite well at night. Some ancients could even see through complete darkness. She could smell the wildlife around her; the low growls, the hiss of something in the distance, the occasional glimpse of animal eyes in the darkness. At one point, something even grazed his legs. It had soft fur and a long tail. He had left before she saw him. It was all so scary, but also beautiful and exhilarating. She walked through the forest barely making a sound. She was dressed in a long black ceremonial dress embroidered with jewels, perfect for the occasion that her mother had indicated to her. A pendant fell from her neck. In the center was a black jewel, a souvenir of his home. She eventually reaches the top of a hill. In the distance, she could see the clearing. A green flame bathed the area in light and she could see people already gathered. The girl started to walk down the hill. Her steps eventually became strides and before she knew it, she was running. The breeze in his black hair, the feeling of the night on his skin, it was the best feeling in the world. She ends up reaching a small pond in the middle of the forest. She knelt down by the water and dipped her hands in it. The water was clear and cool to the touch. She splattered some in the middle of the paper. He nodded slowly then took her hand. His own hand hovered over hers and he whispered something. Her hand began to burn violently and she closed her eyes in pain for a moment. When she opened them, the guard had disappeared. She looked at the back of her hand and saw a symbol engraved on it. Then the room began to disappear and dissipate. The stone walls gave way to a new location. A few seconds later, she found herself in what looked like the courtyard of a castle. The door stood before her, large and black. Still dizzy from her recent travels, the young girl staggered towards the door. A wave of nervousness and fear took over. Slightly trembling, she raised her hand to the door and knocked three times. A cloaked figure opened the door, red eyes glowing beneath his hood. “Welcome, my daughter,” he said hoarsely, “We have been waiting for you.”
