When a player suffers a concussion, the person's brain becomes very weak and sensitive to strenuous activities. For example, one story in particular, a high school freshman named Sarah was a heterosexual student. During a game, Sarah suffered a concussion that drastically changed her ability to succeed in school. “My concussion not only prevented me from playing sports; it also took me away from school. Before my injury, I was taking advanced classes. Immediately afterward, I couldn't even solve simple math problems in my head and couldn't follow the lessons. Without additional support, my injury could have had a significant negative impact on my academic record. (CDC, 2015) This is a great example of how the protective helmet could have helped prevent this concussion and not harm a student's academic performance. Academics are a large part of the lives of many athletes today, from elementary, middle, and high school players, all the way up to college level players. “After a concussion, rest is essential to help the brain heal. Meanwhile, not only physical activities, but also activities that involve learning and concentration, which are common in the classroom. (CDC,
