    IntroductionThe Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is a leader in research leading to better treatments and cures for type 1 diabetes. JDRF is a volunteer-led, staff-driven organization with chapters across the United States and affiliates in eight countries. In fiscal year 2009, nearly one-third of JDRF-supported research programs and projects were outside the United States (approximately $29 million). This strategic plan is being developed to explore the potential for raising additional funds for research in countries outside of the United States and to make recommendations. on the best methods to achieve this.
