Essay / Review of Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo
One of the books I chose for my book fair is “Private Peaceful” by Michael Morpurgo. I've only read half the book and I find it quite interesting. It is set during the time of World War I and the author describes the main character, Tommo's past childhood and his current state in the war over time very well. All the characters are related to each other. At the start of the book, Tommo is a young man fighting in the trenches of the First World War and something terrible is going to happen to his brother that he can do nothing about. Tommo does this in the space of one night with a paragraph at the start of each chapter telling you what he's doing now, and Tommo remembers the rest....
