Technology is one of those things that evolves at a rapid pace. At the forefront of the battle for the latest and greatest electronics is Apple Inc., the brainchild of Steve Jobs. Because of how he built Apple from his garage, how he changed the way we listen to music, and the products he created are still very much a part of our lives even after his death, Steve Jobs should be included in Atlantic Monthly's Top 100 Hottest Products. List of influential Americans. Although Steve Jobs was one of the founders of Apple, he wasn't always in charge. He was laid off for a time and eventually rehired when the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. It forced users to buy music, when it was possible to get it for free. He launched a line of retail stores where you could buy your hardware online and he completely redesigned the smartphone. (Jackson) Steve Jobs didn't play the game, he changed the rules. He created material that people wanted so much that they started buying music from it. He decided that instead of trying to reduce operating costs and simply sell his products online, he could change the customer experience.
