    It is important for practitioners to be aware that the families that exist today are becoming more diverse and complex over time. Family social work Family social work in general involves multi-stressed families. These families experience multiple problems and may be in danger. Social workers provide in-home family support, knowledge and skills, different types of programs and much more. They also apply problem-solving, strengths-based, and crisis intervention approaches to family social work with vulnerable families (Collins et al., 2013). Additionally, the following goals of family social work were identified by Collins et al. (2013): • Strengthen family strengths to prepare families for long-term changes (or interventions). • Create concrete changes in family functioning to maintain effective and satisfying daily routines independent of formal support. • Provide additional support after family therapy so that families maintain effective family functioning. • Respond to the family's crisis needs in a timely manner so that they can effectively resolve longer-standing issues.
