  • Essay / Thoughts on Alcohol - 723

I believe alcohol would harm my potential success and goals for the future. I want to build a legacy of service and honor at the University of Toledo. Even if I don't drink, I don't mind if others do. I just prefer that others keep their drinking contained, safe, and not excessive. I am a strong supporter of lowering the legal drinking age to eighteen. If an eighteen year old can fight and die for this country, I believe they should have the right to choose what they put in their body. Many teenagers drink before they are of legal age anyway. Alcohol has bad qualities, such as the potential for addiction and alcohol poisoning, serving as a distraction and leading to poor choices. Yet, when used responsibly, it can be beneficial for socializing and reaping health benefits. This question is above all a question of perspective and responsibility. Although redundant, the topic of alcohol safety is important. Lori Hart had a special way of making alcohol safety fun and humorous, while also educating students on the subject. I learned two new pieces of information from her that will be very useful to me in the future. I am glad the class attended this presentation and would recommend it to other students. I hope Lori Hart's message lives on among students at the University of Toledo and that alcohol is consumed more.
