As I began my new journey to becoming a dental hygienist, I came to the program with no dental experience. I started this program with an open mind and eager to embrace new concepts as well as develop new skills. During my time at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene (CADH), I learned that as a dental hygienist, I am committed to promoting and assisting each individual in achieving their optimal oral health goals. -dental. To support my client's goals, I may assume some or all of the roles included in the dental hygiene scope of practice. My goal throughout this program was to help my clients achieve their optimal oral health goals through education, health promotion, and the provision of preventative and clinical therapy. At CADH, I learned how to implement the eight skills in different aspects for the public. As a clinician, I learned to apply the dental hygiene care process; Assess signs and symptoms and risk factors for oral disease, then diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment within the scope of dental hygiene practice. One of the many important roles of a dental hygienist is to be part of a dental team where we work collaboratively with a dentist or dental specialist. I was able to significantly develop my management skills to understand the administrative framework of the school, as well as the responsibilities and authority roles of my faculty and other professionals involved. As an administrator, I am responsible for managing the periodontal condition of my clients, identifying the presence of disease, establishing priorities of care, eliminating risk factors and deciding whether the client is already in maintenance condition or needs additional special treatment.
