Modern society has developed many ways to send and receive information between nations in seconds, revolutionizing the method of human-to-human communication. Moving from hieroglyphics representing an average day in the eyes of a pre-modern civilization, to email and texting and the World Wide Web used to transform a communications industry into an unprecedented scene from our technological ancestors. Advances have led us to discoveries never imagined possible at the touch of a button and have made everyday life even easier. The need to write letters and wait weeks to receive them or having to travel halfway around the world has been transformed into a tool that literally defines the new era. The Internet has not only become the basis of how most people contact each other these days, but also the basis of how most people do anything these days, period. The evolution of technology has radically changed the entire planet, to a time where everything we could want is at our fingertips. Want to visit a foreign country without paying to travel? Google Street View can literally put you in the city you most want to see. Did you miss last week's football game? YouTube shows highlights of each game with the press of a button. Ultimately with technology, if you could think about it, it could be accomplished through technology. Social media connects people halfway around the world without the need for a plane ticket or other means of transportation. In fact, about half of people who use social media regularly are more likely to have never met in person due to the speed, access and convenience of the Internet. Networks progressed from simple messengers that connected people without the need for paper...... middle of paper ... reaching more and more people around the world. Websites are used for literally everything you can imagine, good, bad, educational or just to pass the time. People are gradually becoming aware of the multiple uses and information within their reach, sent at the speed of light to all areas of land, air and water. The military uses the Internet for critical communications that may or may not result in disastrous situations, but is a necessity for rapid and accurate exchange of information from the base with anyone, whether pilots, submarine captains -sailors or simply infantrymen. Besides the military, even musicians, artists, and even scientists rely on the Internet to distribute and possess the information they need today. The information that technology can deliver is still largely unknown to some, but as we progress from year to year, technology can only get smarter and smarter...
