In the article “Canada's ban on Pakistani adoption”, Nicholas Keung, journalist specializing in immigration , talks about the Canadian government's decision to ban the adoption of children. from Pakistan, citing a problem with their Islamic practice of Kafala; a system of guardianship that does not terminate the biological parent-child relationship nor does it grant full parental rights to adoptive parents. He tells us that this ban, which just came into force in July, has sparked a lot of controversy and left these future parents as well as Pakistani children awaiting adoption in a state of emotional distress. I oppose the decision taken by the Canadian government to ban the adoption of Pakistani children. I am against this motion because this ban is an obvious form of marginalization of these Pakistani orphan children. Additionally, adopting children of a different race can be beneficial to the Canadian government as well as the nation as a whole. The abrupt decision taken and entered into force in July is a form of marginalization of these Pakistani orphan children. According to Nicholas, “Most parents who have already started the adoption process have given up their time and money just to complete the process and these children who were clearly waiting for someone to come and take them in have had their hopes dashed. been broken just because of this unexpected gesture. » This led them to ask the question... middle of paper......no more difficult to adopt.
